My name is Sami Ewers. I am the the co-founder of the creative communications co-operative Like Company, the former managing editor of Wend magazine and a freelance feature writer based in the lovely (rainy) city of Portland.
I've written my entire life. My love for it began in kindergarten when I wrote, published and laminated my very first work of fiction -- The Pig and the Dog. It may not have been my most creative or detailed endeavor (the pig and the dog start out as friends, promptly and inexplicably stop being friends and then miraculously become friends yet again), but it was my first "real" piece of written work and I can actually remember the feeling of excitement I had while writing it.
Twenty years later, I am still writing and still loving every word of it. Thanks to four years of study at the U of O School of Journalism and Communication (in the magazine field), I'm happy to say that I now understand the art of writing much more than I did in my grade school days and that, as a result, my articles make a bit more sense than The Pig and the Dog did.
I'm actively working as a writer for Like Co. (see our clients here) and as a regular contributor to Goodness and Portland Family magazines, as well as OHSU's Nursing Momentum magazine. Check out my portfolio here.
